ESO Girls' Day 2016 group photo

On 28 April 2016, ESO participated in Germany’s Girls’ Day activities, in which technical enterprises, universities and research organisations open their doors to female school students to give them an insight into science and technology professions and to encourage more of them to choose careers in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

The programme for ESO Girls' Day 2016 included an introductory talk, a tour of the main ESO laboratories, and hands-on workshops on astronomy and engineering.

The picture here captured the smiles of the girls students who participated, together with their teachers and the ESO staff members who volunteered for the success of the event.
