A magnitude sequence in the NTT picture

This map identifies some of the galaxies which are seen in the deep NTT picture, described in ESO Press Release eso9105. The computer-drawn ellipses reflect their sizes and shapes. Note that the identifying numbers are located to the right of the objects they refer to.
The following sequence of measured V -magnitudes illustrates the extraordinary depth of this picture: V = 20.3 (galaxy no. 72), 21.1 (73), 21.5 (64),23.0 (62), 23.4 (SO), 24.9 (ll4), 26.3 (5S), 26.S (92), 27.5 (105), 27.7 (llO), 2S.0 (13), 2S.4 (10), 2S.4 (14), 29.0 (70), 29.1 (45).
