Laser Guide Star at the VLT
A view down one of the Auxiliary Telescope tracks reveals the four 8.2-metre Unit Telescopes that comprise ESO's Very Large Telescope (VLT). Out of the far right enclosure, the terrifically orange beam of a Laser Guide Star shoots off into the night sky, bathing the site in its warm glow.
