The Milky Way over ALMA

The Milky Way stretches across the sky in this image of ALMA, the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array. ALMA is a global partnership between the scientific communities of East Asia, the ESO Member States and North America in collaboration with Chile. It looks up into the cold and dusty Universe and attempts to answer some of the deepest questions of our cosmic origins.
