A snowy, winter scene at APEX – the Atacama Pathfinder Experiment telescope. A 12-m telescope, ESO operates APEX at one of the highest observatory sites on Earth, at an elevation of 5100 metres, high on the Chajnantor plateau in Chile’s Atacama region.
