SPECULOOS atop Paranal

Basking under the soft light of the Chilean skies are two domes of the SPECULOOS Southern Observatory. Comprising four domes, SPECULOOS is located at ESO's Paranal Observatory, near the Very Large Telescope (VLT). Its mission is to detect terrestrial exoplanets around nearby ultracool stars — of spectral type M7 and later — and brown dwarfs.
