Deformable secondary mirror
This image shows the construction of the deformable secondary mirror (DSM), one of the key systems of the VLT Adaptive Optics Facility (AOF) in Paranal, Chile. The thin shell being dismounted and the magnets glued to the back face are visible. To learn more about the mirror's construction and testing read issue 151 of the Messenger.
