Postcard 2017: Carina Nebula Lasers
The Four Laser Guide Star Facility (4LGSF) at ESO’s Paranal Observatory shines 22-watt laser beams towards the Carina Nebula. These beams create artificial stars in the upper atmosphere to guide the adaptive optics systems.
