Under the VST dome

This unique fulldome view from inside the dome of the VLT Survey Telescope (VST) reveals the scale and complexity of the mechanisms that power this 2.6-metre wide-field survey telescope.

The VST, which has a field of view twice as broad as the full Moon, is housed in an enclosure immediately adjacent to the four Unit Telescopes of the Very Large Telescope (VLT) at ESO's Paranal Observatory.
