Embajador Fotográfico de ESO Petr Horálek
Nació en el año 1986 en República Checa, Petr estudió Física Teórica y Astrofísica en la Universidad Masaryk en Brno. Luego de sus estudios, trabajó brevemente como observador de meteoros brillantes en el Departamento de Materia Interplanetaria del Instituto Astronómico de Ciencias de República Checa. Durante este periodo se enamoró de la astrofotografía y decidió tomar un viaje de un año alrededor del mundo para mejorar sus habilidades en este campo.
Como ciudadano de una República Checa contaminada lumínicamente, decidió capturar el cielo nocturno en lugares naturalmente oscuros alrededor del mundo, para mostrar a la gente de las ciudades con contaminación lumínica de lo que se pierden sobre sus cabezas. Una larga ruta a través de Islas Canarias, Australia, Nueva Zelanda, Islas Cook y Sudáfrica, lo llevaron finalmente al corazón del Desierto de Atacama en los Observatorios de ESO La Silla y Paranal en 2015. Petr se especializa en fotografiar extraños fenómenos del cielo nocturno. Sus imágenes capturan momentos únicos, los cuales él llama "las perlas de la astronomía", que se suman a la inconmensurable belleza del cielo estrellado. Algo que piensa que todo el mundo debiera ver en algún momento sus vidas.
