The Sun sets over VLT Unit Telescopes
Sunset rays illuminate the VLT Unit Telescopes, a few minutes before they begin operations for the night. The Very Large Telescope (VLT) is based at the Cerro Paranal site in the Atacama Desert of northern Chile. The faint and inverted crescent moon of the southern hemisphere can be seen at the left upper edge of the telescope, surrounded by the blue sky of twilight.
