Deformable secondary mirror transport box
This is the transport box for the thin-shell mirror of the second generation Very Large Telescope mirror unit, the deformable secondary mirror (DSM).
The transport box fulfils several functions as well as transport of the shell: the lower (concave) half is used to aid the removal and installation on the shell to the DSM and the convex half of the shell can be used as a “coating body”.
