Cerro Armazones illuminated

This panoramic view displays the Cerro Armazones mountain at a distance on the left, illuminated by the sunset's reddish light, which is reflected by the land and high clouds. With an altitude of 3046 metres, Cerro Armazones is situated in the central part of the Chilean Atacama Desert, some 20 kilometres from Cerro Paranal, home of ESO's Very Large Telescope (VLT).
