Pulsar star
An excerpt from the Planetarium Show "The Hot and Energetic Universe".
A pulsar is a highly magnetised, rotating neutron star or white dwarf, that emits a beam of electromagnetic radiation. This radiation can only be seen when the beam of emission points toward Earth (similar to a lighthouse), and is responsible for the pulsed appearance of emission.
