Moonset over Cerro Paranal

The Moon setting as seen from Cerro Paranal in the Atacama Desert in Chile. The distortion is caused by the turbulence in the thick layer of Earth's atmosphere. Cerro Paranal hosts ESO's Very Large Telescope, the world's most advanced visible-light astronomical observatory.
