Astronomiecamp der ESO für Schülerinnen und Schüler weiterführender Schulen
Gewinne eine Wintertour in die Alpen

Die Europäische Südsternwarte (ESO) und sein Science Outreach Network unterstützen Sterrenlab, einen Organisator von Veranstaltungen zur Wissenschaftskommunikation, bei der Durchführung des ersten Astronomiecamps der ESO. Das Camp wird vom 26.-31. Dezember 2013 am Osservatorio Astronomico della Regione Autonoma Valle d'Aosta im italienischen Saint Barthelemy bei Nus im Aostatal stattfinden. Verschiedene Partner inklusive der ESO bieten insgesamt fünf Stipendien an, die unter den Bewerbern vergeben werden.
Das Camp wird in Vorlesungen, Experimenten behandeln und nächtliche Beobachtungen mit Teleskopen und Instrumenten am Observatorium verschiedene Themen des sichtbaren und unsichtbaren Universums behandeln. Zusätzliche Aktivitäten wie Wintersport und Exkursionen werden das Camp für die Teilnehmer zu einem unvergesslichen Erlebnis machen. Die ESO ist verantwortlich für das wissenschaftliche Programm und wird zusammen mit weiteren Partnern das Kursmaterial zur Verfügung stellen.
Sterrenlab hat sich auf die Organisation internationaler wissenschaftlicher Camps für Kinder und Teenager spezialisiert und bietet eine Reihe von Serviceleistungen bei der Beratung, der Gestaltung und der Durchführung von Projekten und Events im Bereich der wissenschaftlichen Ausbildung und Kommunikation an.
Das Camp ist für eine maximale Teilnehmerzahl von 55 Schülerinnen und Schüler weiterführender Schulen im Alter zwischen 16 und 18 Jahren ausgelegt, die aus den ESO-Mitgliedsländern und den Ländern des Science Outreach Networks kommen sollen. Schüler, die an dem Camp teilnehmen möchten, können sich bis zum 15. Oktober 2013 über die Webseite des Camps bewerben. Die Auswahl der Kandidaten wird am 31. Oktober 2013 stattfinden, die Teilnahmebestätigung wird bis zum 8. November 2013 versendet. Die Auswahlkriterien und weitere Informationen für die Teilnehmer findet man auf der Camp-Webseite.
Die Teilnahmegebühr von 480 Euro beinhaltet die komplette Unterkunft in der Jugendherberge Saint Barthelemy, die Betreuung durch professionelle Mitarbeiter, alle astronomischen und sonstigen Aktivitäten, Materialien, Exkursionen, Transportkosten während des Camps und Versicherungen. Zwischen dem Flughafen von Mailand Malpensa und dem Observatorium wird ein Bustransfer angeboten.
Für den Bewerber oder die Bewerberin mit dem besten Antrag aus den ESO-Mitgliedsländern übernimmt die ESO die sämtliche Kosten. Dieses Stipendium beinhaltet nicht nur die Kosten für das Camp, sondern auch An- und Abreise. Vier nationale Partner stellen darüber hinaus einen weiteren Platz zur kostenfreien Teilnahme für den Schüler oder die Schülerin mit der besten Bewerbung aus den jeweiligen Ländern zur Verfügung an (allerdings ohne Übernahme der Reisekosten):
