Zooming in on the VISTA view of the Sculptor Galaxy (NGC 253)
This zoom sequence starts with a wide view of the southern sky far from the Milky Way. Only a few stars are visible, but as we zoom in the prominent ellipse of the Sculptor Galaxy becomes apparent. As we get close the view shifts to the very detailed new infrared image of NGC 253 from the VISTA telescope at Paranal.
