Soundscape: La Silla ESO 3.6-metre-telescope chiller

The sound of fans inside the telescopes is an iconic soundscape. This is how a typical night sounds inside the dome of the ESO 3.6-metre telescope building. The noise of the chillers can also be heard from the control room cameras, and even the astronomers observing remotely can listen to it through the computer while connecting with the on site telescope and instrument operator (TIO).
