Lunar eclipse over the VLT
A total lunar eclipse — when the Moon passes into the Earth's shadow — causes the Moon to appear red above ESO's Paranal Observatory. Beneath, an Auxiliary Telescope (AT; left) and a Unit Telescope (UT; right) are seen against the star-studded sky. This picture was taken on 15 April 2014.
