ESO Council representatives next to the ELT time capsule

This photograph shows ESO Council President Linda Tacconi (left) and Vice-President Mirjam Lieshout-Vijverberg (right) preparing to bury a time capsule — commemorating ESO staff, science, technology and cooperation between ESO and Chile — on the concrete of the dome of ESO’s Extremely Large Telescope. The ceremony took place on 13 October 2023 atop Cerro Armazones in Chile’s Atacama Desert.
