Radio and near-infrared composite of W49A
Three-colour composite of the central region of the star-forming region W49A, based on a radio emission map (wavelength 3.6 cm ; here rendered as red) as well as two SofI images in the Ks- (green) and J-bands (blue). The red-only features in this image represent regions of ionized hydrogen so deeply embedded in the molecular cloud that they cannot be detected in the near-infrared, while blue sources are foreground stars. The radio continuum data were taken with the Very Large Array by Chris De Pree.
