Engineering ALMA in the snow

The Atacama Large Millimeter Array (ALMA) is situated more than 5000 metres above sea level in the Chilean desert, on the Chajnantor plateau. Occasionally, a sparse flurry of snow will fall onto the desert floor, providing a wintry dusting to the facility. Here, some engineers are carrying out maintenance.
