Venus Transit 2004

On 8 June 2004, Venus - the Earth' s sister planet - passed in front of the Sun as seen from the Earth. This very rare event lasted about 6 hours and was visible from most of Europe, Africa and Asia. It was followed by hundreds of millions of people all over the Earth.

Astronomy On-Line - 1996 – 1999

This Educational Programme was organised in a collaboration between ESO, the European Association for Astronomy Education (EAAE) and the European Union (EU) during the 4th European Week for Scientific and Technological Culture in 1996. The programme was again active in 1999, in connection with the total solar eclipse on August 11, 1999.
