More Hyakutake Images from Bavaria
These photos of Comet Hyakutake were made by Peter Staettmayer, Director of the Munich Public Observatory (Volkssternwarte), from his private observatory in Herrsching at the Ammersee, some 30 km southwest of Munich. He made the first photo of this comet from Bavaria on March 14.
The close up photo [GIF,272k] was made with a telescope of aperture 20 cm and focal length 76 cm A smaller version is also available ( close up photo [GIF,70k] ). The wide-field photo [GIF,240k] was made with another telescope with focal length 18 cm (small version: wide-field photo [GIF,76k] ). The exposures were made on March 20, 1996, around 01:00 UT.
