After the great success of the program in the last seven editions, ESO is delighted to announce that the call for applications for the 8th ESO Summer Research Programme is now open. This fully funded program is available to students in STEM fields who have not yet started a Ph.D. program and have completed at least two years of their degree.
ESO Summer Research Programme 2026

This year, ESO is offering seven projects covering a variety of topics. Successful applicants will be invited to work at the ESO Headquarters in Garching for six weeks between 15 June and 24 July 2026.
Candidates should apply online via the ESO Recruitment Portal, after selecting an available project from the projects' webpage, before the deadline of January 31th, 2026, 23:59 CET.
