The Offices for Science and the Astronomy Faculty are very pleased to present the 2020 ESO Fellows. Here is an introduction to the Fellows due to start in Garching, Germany later this year.

Francesca Fragkoudi

Research Interests: Galaxy formation & evolution; dynamics of barred galaxies; chemo-dynamics of MW stellar populations; N-body & hydrodynamical simulations; cosmological simulations; Gaia and IFU/multi-object spectroscopic surveys; synergies between theory and observations

Current Institute: Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics, Germany

Tychoniec

Łukasz Tychoniec

Research Interests: Outflows and jets from young protostars - origin, chemical composition, and kinematics of molecular jets; the impact of jets on the environment; disks in the youngest protostars in the context of planet formation, observations with ALMA, VLA and JWST.

Current institute: Leiden Observatory, The Netherlands

Ginolfi

Michele Ginolfi

Research Interests: Multi-wavelength observations (e.g., VLT, ALMA) and theoretical studies (numerical/semi-analytical models) of galaxy evolution across the cosmic time; AGN/star-formation-driven feedback, gas flows and baryon cycle in the early Universe; interstellar gas & dust properties of local and distant galaxies.
