Period 94 Proposal Allocation

The 94th Observing Programmes Committee met on 19–22 May 2014. A total of 1170.8 (8-hour equivalent) nights of visitor and service mode observations have been allocated on the VLT, VISTA, VST, the 3.6-metre, NTT and APEX telescopes.

On the VLT the balance between visitor and service mode in Period 94 was 32.7% and 53.5% (13.8% fillers). New and ongoing Large Programmes on the VLT occupy 29.4% of the allocation, while the equivalent numbers on the 3.6-metre and NTT are 47.6% and 62.6% respectively. A 44 night allocation to the two newly approved Public Spectroscopic Surveys with VIMOS was made.

The release of the time allocations for Period 94 (October 2014 – March 2015) marks the start of the Phase 2 period. The deadline for Phase 2 submissions for Service Mode (SM) programmes is Thursday, 7 August 2014. Detailed information for SM users preparing their observations is available.
