Period 92 Proposal Statistics

The application deadline for Period 92 (October 2013–March 2014) closed on 27 March and a total of 892 proposals were received. There were 869 proposals for Normal Programmes, 21 for Large Programmes and two for Calibration Programmes. Of the proposals for Large Programmes, nine were for Paranal, eight were for La Silla telescopes and five were for APEX.

There were nine proposals in the new category of Monitoring Programme (as defined in the Call for Proposals), and 40 target of opportunity programmes were submitted. The percentage of submitted programmes by OPC science category was:

  • A Cosmology: 21.7%
  • B Galaxies and Galactic Nuclei: 16.6%
  • C Interstellar Medium, Star Formation and Planetary Systems: 32.9%
  • D Stellar Evolution: 28.8%

The OPC meets on 23–26 May 2013 and proposers will be informed of the outcome of their proposals around the end of June.
