Introduction

The Data Display Tool is a collection of libraries and tools for the transfer, display and manipulation of data coming from instrument and telescope detectors. The DDT is a product that is being developed in the scope of an outsourcing contract by the company CGI. It is still not delivered officially to ESO, but the IFW v3 is packing a snapshot of the actual version.

ESO does not ensure the correct functioning of the DDT Viewer or libraries contained in version 3 of the ICS Framework. This beta version of DDT and its draft documentation is delivered “as is” without warranty of any kind.

Delivery Scope

  • ESO ported DDT to CentOS 8 and created a new version. This version is not officially supported by CGI.

  • Python bindings are not available for this version.

  • Some sections of the user manual shall be ignored or they are not valid:
    • Ignore paragraph 3.2.1 about the installation under CentOS7

    • Ignore paragraph 3.2.2.1 about python bindings.

    • Ignore the whole section 3.2.2 about building and installing. DDT is provided as a RPM package.

    • Logs of the DDT are saved under the home account running the applications.
