Find here information about instrument health checks.
This is a joint effort of Paranal Science Operations and of the
Quality Control Group in Garching. Its intention is to provide quick
quality feedback for the on-site QC process. It currently supports
all VLT instruments.
Calibrations feeding the Health Check process are
those which measure key instrument components. They are taken approximately
daily. They are pipeline processed on Paranal. Their QC1 parameters
are transferred to Garching and picked by an automatic process run
by the QC group. Values of selected parameters are plotted in a
Health Check plot, in order to provide comparison to earlier parameters.
They are usually updated within a few hours. As time continues,
Paranal data points are eventually overwritten by the final QC1
parameters as determined by the Garching pipeline.
The health check plots focus on the most recent,
most important and regularly measured instrument components. The
complete set of trending plots (including the historical ones and
those with QC1 parameters which are not part of the Health Check
process) is available from the QC1 pages (go
to any instrument, and then to "Instrument Quality Control
and Trending") maintained by the QC group. There you also find
an option to download the QC1 parameters, and to link to the QC1
database. The instrument specific trending pages are linked below
under "trending plots".
Find the Health Check plots linked in the green
area. Find tutorial information and all available trending plots
under 'trending plots'.
The process behind the Health Check Monitor is documented
here.
