I am an astronomer at the foremost intergovernmental organisation in astronomy, the European Southern Observatory (ESO), where I am Head of Media Relations, Science Advisor to the Department of Communication, and Editor of ESO’s science & technology journal The Messenger.

I am also an active researcher with a broad research profile in the area of galaxy evolution in the Universe, supervisor of master and PhD students, and mentor of junior researchers.

I thrive at the intersection of fields, disciplines, and sectors in society. I value diversity in all of its dimensions. I am convinced that open communication in a nurturing atmosphere is of paramount importance for the successful transfer and advancement of knowledge
