Brown dwarfs
Brown dwarfs are fascinating objects that are in between planets and stars, often being called "failed stars". I have been studying brown dwarfs, mostly when they are in binary systems, but also those close to us.
I studied in great details the closest brown dwarf to us, which happens to be a binary system composed of two brown dwarfs! Using FORS2, in this paper, while using the HST, we improved the orbit. I collaboratedon some work done on this object already in 2013.
I recently participated to the discovery of first known brown-dwarf Am-star binary from the TESS Mission.
I also collaborated on work about WISE J085510.74-071442.5 (J0855-0714), which was the coolest object beyond the solar system known at the time: see Temperature constraints on the coldest brown dwarf known: WISE 0855-0714 and Near-infrared photometry of WISE J085510.74-071442.5.
Other wide binaries with ultracool companions and one new brown dwarf were studied in this paper.
