I got the same problem when launching midas (96Nov pl2.1) on a remote 
machine (e.g hp9000) and
displaying (create/display) the display window on my local X server (linux pc) 
is this due to the remote X server capabilities ? (Xfree86)

(...i know, it would be better to install midas on my local linux pc)
