I am puzzled: for me it works, even on a data cube ....

Midas 003: loa/ima VISIR_spc_tec_slitv_0249.fits scale=3
1. plane of image cube will be loaded...
Midas 004: plot/histo VISIR_spc_tec_slitv_0249.fits
We have to execute the command STATISTICS/IMAGE first,
since the descriptor HISTOGRAM does not exist
(histogram not stored as descr. in VISIR_spc_tec_slitv_0249.fits)
frame: VISIR_spc_tec_slitv_0249.fits  (data = R4, format = FITS)
complete area of frame
minimum, maximum:                 -3.276700e+04    1.063948e+04
at pixel (1,1,1),(129,129,1)
mean, standard_deviation:         -3.158905e+04    6.108060e+03
