For those machines not supporting the syslog() routine (e.g.
pure UNIX SYSTEM_V) the tapeserver can be recompiled with the flag
-DNO_SYSLOG and, optionally, with the flag -DDEBUG
(it will fill the log-file with debug information):
# cd /midas/98NOV/util/tapeserv # make 'SYS="-DNO_SYLOG -DDEBUG"'
The log-file is then fixed to /var/log/inmtape.log but can easily be
changed in the source.
