The $DEVCAPFILE, a tape configuration file

This file defines the configuration of tape devices which behaviour deviates from the default definitions: cl=generic for the driver, tm=1 one Tape Mark at End of Tape, am=1 Append Mode is available, bw=0 Backward Movement is allowed, and accepts Variable Block Size. The file is addressed through the MIDAS environment variable DEVCAPFILE, by default defined as /midas/98NOV/incl/devcap.dat, which can be used as template for your own configuration.
