Calibrations are taken for the only IFS mode

The basic IFS optical components are stored in the following keys:

  • The prism wheel INS2.OPTI2.NAME (either PRI_YJ or PRI_YJH)
  • A composed key INS2.COMB.IFS.NAME which contains the setup of the imaging flats.
  • The laser lamps and broad band lamps used for imaging flats are in INS2.LAMP[1-5].NAME.
  • Neutral density filters aso used for imaging flats are in INS2.FILT.NAME.


IFS dark and background frames:

IFS dark and background frames are acquired in regular time intervals for the following setups:

  • DIT=2, NDIT=40
  • DIT=8, NDIT=25
  • DIT=30, NDIT=15

IFS dark frames use the setup INS1.OPTI1.NAME=CLOSED, while IFS background calibration frames use INS1.OPT1.NAME=OPEN and become dependent on the dicroic of the CLI.

IFS imaging flat:

IFS laser lamp and broad band halogen lamp imaging flats are acquired in regular time intervals for up to four narrow band laser lamps and one broad band halogen lamp. They all look very similar
