Laboratory studies of image deterioration due to convection above heated mirror have been published by a few researchers:
All these laboratory measurements constitute an important body of data but, perhaps because different methods were used, they have never been generalized and interpreted in a way that would lead to a general, if approximate, theory of the mirror seeing phenomenon.
In the next section we will describe the mirror seeing phenomenon as it appears from a fluid dynamics standpoint. Section will summarize the available experimental data, including some obtained by the author, and reduce them to a common unit of measure. Finally in section the data will be analyzed, interpreted in the light of similarity relationships and compared to the results of approximate computational models.
