Notes on Cygnus A coronal lines, No. 2
RAEF & CNT, May 2004
During a visit to Sheffield from 17-19 May 2004, RAEF has done the following things on the Cyg_A coronal project:
- Collected the relevant literature as pdf files and labelled them as FirstauthorYear.pdf
- Started a paper in MNRAS style
- Looked carefully at the spatial distribution of the X-ray, radio and optical/NIR emission from the kpc-scale regions. This animated gif image shows overlays (from Ogle et al. 97 and Young et al. 02) on the HST/Keck optical image (from Fosbury et al. 99)The sequence is:
- BVRI image
- B [OIII] H-alpha image
- Ogle Pol map overlayed on (1)
- Young X-ray/[OIII] map overlayed on (1)
- Young X-ray/6cm map overlayed on (1)
- Ogle Pol map overlayed on (2)
- Young X-ray/[OIII] map overlayed on (2)
- Young X-ray/6cm map overlayed on (2)
- BVRI [OIII] H-alpha full composite image
Issues to discuss
- Look at velocity differences between coronal and lower ionization lines
- Is the soft X-ray emission absorbed - look at Young et al. paper?
- Get hold of the 2D Keck optical spectra
- Is there a scattered component in othe X-ray AGN? Look at NGC 1068
- Does a joint X-ray - coronal line model imply X-ray absorption edges in the direct view to the AGN?
