Table 6.1 contains the graphic output devices on
which MIDAS plots can be produced. The user can specify one of these
output devices in advance by the ASSIGN/GRAPHIC command. In
addition to the hardcopy devices available, the command can also be
used to reassign the graphics window. For example, the user can
indicate that the plot has to be produced on a second graphics
window, or on a display window of his/her workstation. After the
plot command has finished and a plot file is produced, this plot
file can be sent to a device by the COPY/GRAP command. This
command accepts the same graphics devices as the ASSIGN/GRAPH
command. For workstations this offers the possibility to copy a
graph from one window to another. In section
6.1.6 more information can be found about how
MIDAS takes care of your plot files.
Example:
assign/gra laser nospool
plot/tab example ? #1 -50,-70,10,90
overplot/tab example ? #2 -50,-70,70,90
copy/graphic laser
copy/graphic g,0
assign/gra g,0
In this example we first assign the graphics output to become the
output device. However, the plot file is kept on disk and not
spooled to the printer. After the plot is finished, it is sent to
the printer. Hereafter, we also send a copy to the graphics window
(provided one exists). Finally, we assign the graphics window as
the output device.
