Title: La Silla, a cataclysmic view

Abstract: I will report on the last twenty years that we used many of the telescopes and instruments 
at La Silla to observe and monitor cataclysmic variable stars. I will show and discuss the varieties of 
scientific results we obtained for individual systems and put this into the context of general CV 
research. I will also discuss why La Silla - with the telescopes, the instruments but also the way it 
has been operated - is particularly useful for this kind of research.
