La Silla lined up

In this image some of the telescopes at La Silla are lined up in a row. The silver dome at the front belongs to the MPG/ESO 2.2-metre telescope, which — just like the ESO 1-metre Schmidt telescope behind it — has been decommissioned. The New Technology Telescope (NTT) — the first telescope with active optics — and the ESO 3.6-metre telescope further back are still operating.
