On 24 February, the ground-breaking ceremony for the ESO Supernova Planetarium & Visitor Centre took place in Garching. To mark the occasion we opened the website for the facility, which we invite you to explore it as it has a lot of interesting content. For example, our current job openings are listed under Join Us (deadline 13 March).
As a new approach we are now open to receive donations to cover part of the start-up and operations costs. If you would like to become an ESO Supernova supporter and be listed on the website, check out our donations page.
Don’t forget to join ESO Supernova on Facebook and Twitter. There is also a German version on Facebook and Twitter.
Over the past few weeks we have published dozens of new, free 4k fulldome clips, including a simulated flight over the E-ELT, a marvellous NASA/SDO time-lapse of the Sun and unprecedented Earth renderings: http://www.eso.org/public/videos/archive/category/fulldome/
For ESA/Hubble we have uploaded several 8k and 4k fulldome clips, see:
http://www.spacetelescope.org/Hubble25/fulldome/
http://www.spacetelescope.org/videos/archive/category/dome/
We are happy to announce a global partnership with CDN77 (cdn77.com) who will work with us to deliver videos (incl. the large 4k planetarium files) via their Content Distribution Network giving us a more reliable and stable video performance. No more waiting, lagging or disruptions.
If you don't want to miss any of our fulldome videos, we recommend that you subscribe to our fulldome RSS feeds:

Finally, we would like to welcome a new ESO Photo Ambassador, Alexandru Tudorică! Born in 1987 in Romania, Alex hopes to bring art and science together for the general public and inspire people to spend more time thinking about, and enjoying, our tremendously beautiful Universe. Alex is also an enthusiastic mountaineer, often carrying heavy photographic equipment to the highest peaks, when he's not stargazing with a small telescope or enjoying the experience of a pristine sky with the naked eye. Read more about him and check his photos out here.
Let’s reach new heights in astronomy together,
Lars Lindberg Christensen (lars@eso.org)
