Dear Fellow Communicators,
We still have a few open places for the first ESO astronomy camp, so if you have school students aged 16–18 or know someone who does, we encourage you to share the opportunity with them! The deadline for applications is on 21 October. Lectures, hands-on activities, nighttime observations, social activities, winter sports, and excursions will all be part of the schedule. More information can be found on our website and on the camp website.
We have just concluded a long overdue re-organisation of our print products and are happy to introduce the ESOshop catalogue — a brochure that gives you (and us ;) ) a better overview of all our products, as well as the (significant) bulk discounts available when ordering large quantities. We are also concluding a re-organisation of the physical storage at ESO Headquarters, but we can maybe pass on some lessons learned from that some other time.
On the same note, the ESO Calendar 2014, our most popular product, is now on sale in our online shop and has triggered a surge of secondary impulse purchases in the shop. Christmas has started early this year...
Finally, if you are in Garching bei München on 19 October 2013, we would love to see you at our Open House Day 2013! Most of our small team is on site so come and say hello.
Next week, we hope to see many of you at the CAP2013 meeting in Warsaw, starting on Monday 14 October! It is promising to be one of the most eventful and exciting CAP meetings so far.
Let's reach new heights in astronomy together,
Lars Lindberg Christensen (lars@eso.org)
