Dear Fellow Communicators,
March is ALMA month for us! On 13 March the largest astronomical project in existence will be inaugurated in Chile and we invite you to watch the event live here. The live stream will be made available on the day from the observatory’s Operations Support Facility, at an altitude of 2900 metres in the Chilean Andes. The stream of the day’s events will run from 14:30 UT to around 16:00 UT. We look forward to welcoming between 100 and 150 journalists on site. An exciting challenge involving complex logistics and thorough health checks before the visit to the Chajnantor Plateau, which is located at 5000 metres above sea level!

This month we have also sent out the first edition of the new ESO Science Newsletter. Formerly known as the ESO Electronic Newsletter (enews), the newsletter is now produced in html format, with integrated images, while keeping the great science news that it has always delivered to the scientific community. If you are interested in the latest news about instruments, calibrations and the archive, you can subscribe via the link at the left top corner of the Newsletter.
