If you’re looking for ideas for new, exciting activities to organise at your science centre or other venue in order to attract more visitors, we have some great suggestions for you!
- Transform your venue into an out-of-this-world location, thanks to the 50 stunning ESO images from our exhibition Awesome Universe — the Cosmos through the eyes of the European Southern Observatory. We are also offering grants of 1000 Euros for a limited number of organisers so remember to register before the deadline of 1 June.
- You can also place a few computer screens among these gallery images to offer a more dynamic experience to your visitors. Download the special anniversary ESOcasts from here and leave a remote control at hand so that people can watch them at their pace and possibly also in their language. Our ESOcasts have subtitles in several languages so be sure to look for yours, or help us with translations.
- Intrigue your visitors with this moon bounced image and take the opportunity to tell them more about radio astronomy and the ALMA project! By the way, did you know that ALMA recently marked a half-way point, with 33 antennas on the Chajnantor plateau?
- Your visitors will want to leave your centre with a souvenir so check our recently updated bulk price offers in the ESOshop and the Hubbleshop. Order products at cost price and resell them at the price that suits you best.
- Host one of our ESO 50th Anniversary events on 5 October, and invite your guests to a live connection with ESO’s Very Large Telescope in Chile! We will be releasing a never-before-seen astronomical image during the event, so be sure to invite media representatives, too. And if you want to raise the profile of your organisation in your local community, invite local decision-makers and VIPs. An ESO representative will visit your event to talk with your visitors about our state-of-the-art observatories, and the latest scientific and technological achievements.
- If you have an event taking place on a date other than 5 October, you can still ask us if we can send an ESO Outreach Ambassador to give a public talk about ESO.
- Connect with a local ESO Science Outreach Network representative to get more support. You can now also find them on Twitter and Facebook, sharing news in your own language. Check if we have local accounts in your country on our social media webpage.
- Tell us all about it, preferably in advance, by emailing us at information@eso.org so that we can further promote your activities on our website and other channels, to help bring even more people to you!
