ESO News

Astronomen hebben nog nooit eerder waargenomen structuren ontdekt in een stofschijf rond een nabije ster. Ze gebruikten daarvoor opnamen met de Very Large Telescope van ESO en de Hubble Space Telescope van NASA/ESA. De snel bewegende, golfachtige structuren in de schijf rond de ster AU Microscopii lijken in niets op wat ooit is gezien of voorspeld. De resultaten worden op 8 oktober gepubliceerd in het het tijdschrift Nature.
