Star trails in front of SEST
This image from 4 February 2016 shows star trails in front of the Swedish–ESO Submillimetre Telescope (SEST) and the ESO 3.6-metre telescope (in the background) at La Silla Observatory. The red-green colour is due to airglow.
SEST was built on behalf of the Swedish Natural Science Research Council (NFR) and ESO and it was the only large sub-millimetre telescope in the southern hemisphere at the time of first light. It is now decommissioned since 2003.
