Chajnantor at sunset
The ALMA telescope sees the Universe in "light" that has wavelengths of millimetres or less, and reveals, for example, star-forming regions in our galaxy that would otherwise be hidden from astronomers. But it cannot see the spectacle of a Chajnantor sunset in visible light, as photographed here by one of ESO's Photo Ambassadors who is visiting all of ESO's observatories in Chile. He is a member of the Fulldome Expedition team, whose objective is to obtain images for use in planetarium presentations.
