Když se řekne ‚exploze hvězdy‘, máme většinou na mysli výbuch supernovy, který představuje velmi působivou závěrečnou fázi vývoje hmotné hvězdy. Nová pozorování získaná pomocí radioteleskopu ALMA však přináší pohled na hvězdné exploze v úplně opačné fázi života stálice – během jejího zrodu. Při průzkumu pozůstatků dramatického raného vývoje skupiny hmotných hvězd astronomové získali tyto působivé záběry, které dokládají, že i vznik hvězd může být dynamickým a explozivním procesem.
